Readingtrip - Welcome to the WLC! So glad you found us here! Yes - the site is pretty new - we actually went live with it in December - and it is growing so fast! The forums just went live a few weeks ago and they take some time get moving.
I have a Kindle Fire too - I love it except for one thing - If I forget to download my book and then I am out of WiFi range - I can't get to my readying material that is a little frustrating - but otherwise I love it! I do wish you could create categories for your books on there, but maybe that will be something they add later.
We have some great historical Fiction - and fiction authors who are regularly on the site! Jump on in!!! Welcome!
I was told by a friend that you can download an app that will aloow you to
shelf " books into categories. But I have not looked into as of yet.
Glad you found us! I just got hubby a Kindle Fire. I can't wait to borrow it:-) We're a pretty new site, but already have almost 2000 members. Soon everyone will find the forums -it's always nice to be one of the first!
I believe short stories have a special place in our harrassed, time-driven world. We multi-task, we drown in the Internet information tsunami everytime we open our computers or smartphones. Yet, there are gaps in our lives, waiting at the doctor's office, in line at the post office or on the commuter train.
What do you do then? Read the papers on your Kindle, latch into the novel you just bought or go through a short story...If it lasts just the length of your wait, isn't that just wonderful? Or are you annoyed by the fact a short story is...well, short?
If you like short stories, what kind do you like most? Fast and punchy? Slow and dreamy like a poem?
I'm a newbie as of today. Looking forward to being a member!

I found this site while I was getting into groups on goodreads. Hope that isn't cheating on goodreads. This is a very cool idea and not as overwhelming as good reads is turning out to be for me. I got a kindle fire for Christmas and think it is wonderful. What amazing upgrades from the older kindle. I enjoy reading mystery the most but enjoy historical fiction and non fiction as well. I have been reading many "indie authors" lately and have been very impressed. I hope to make some friends, get some great book suggestions, and enjoy those Free Fridays I saw when I logged in. Well I am off to explore the site. Is this site new?
